How Brewery Programs Are Customized

Historically, breweries and brewpubs could obtain property and liability coverage under traditional package insurance policies. In recent years a number of carriers have developed policies customized specifically for these businesses.

Those brewery policies still include the core elements: building property coverage for owned or leased locations, contents coverage for furniture and equipment, and general liability. But they also add categories a brewery genuinely needs and a package policy does not contemplate, including boiler and machinery, supply chain, spoilage and product recall, liquor liability, and key employee replacement expense.

The distinction matters most at claim time. A brewery running on a generic package policy often discovers the gap only after a contaminated batch, a failed glycol system, or an incident in the taproom.

What We Cover

Coverage Designed for Breweries

Building & Contents Property

Covers owned or leased locations along with the furniture, fixtures, and brewing equipment inside them, the core of any brewery program.

General Liability

Responds to third-party bodily injury and property damage claims arising from your premises and operations.

Boiler & Machinery Coverage

Repairs or replaces equipment central to the brewing and bottling process, and can reimburse income lost to the production interruption or downtime that follows a breakdown.

Supply Chain Coverage

Many brewers hold little raw material on hand and depend on regular shipments. This pays for losses from decreased production or increased production costs when a supplier cannot deliver.

Spoilage & Product Recall

If a batch is contaminated during brewing or packaging, this covers lost revenue and destroyed product, and can pay the cost of recalling and replacing beer already on store shelves.

Liquor Liability

Essential where the brewery allows on-site consumption. It protects the business if a patron is injured or injures someone else and alleges they were overserved. Basic general liability policies typically exclude this.

Key Employee Replacement Expense

Steps in if a key employee dies or becomes disabled, paying the costs of finding a replacement, including advertising, interviewing, and background verification.

Our Approach

An Independent Broker Who Works for You, Not the Carrier

Know What Is Actually in Your Policy

It is important for any brewery or brewpub to understand which elements are included within their insurance policies to ensure proper protection of the business. Two policies that look comparable on price can differ sharply on whether liquor liability is included, how spoilage is valued, and whether supply chain interruption responds at all.

We review the program line by line against how the brewery actually operates, on-site consumption, distribution footprint, ingredient sourcing, and equipment dependencies, then take that to carriers who write this class deliberately rather than accommodate it.
