Boats & Yachts
Are you looking for boat or yacht insurance? Your vessel carries exposures your home and auto policies were never written to handle.
We represent multiple companies that write on the water, and we know which one fits which vessel.
A Common Misconception
Simpson | McCrady places coverage for boats, yachts and recreational vehicles, from a center console on the Allegheny to a captained yacht wintering in Florida.
Start the Conversation →A boat policy is written around geography. It names the waters you are covered on and the months the vessel is supposed to be out of the water. Trailer south for the winter without updating the policy and you can end up outside those limits without knowing it.
Above roughly 36 feet, most carriers move you to a yacht policy, and the questions change with it. Paid crew, the tender and personal watercraft carried aboard, and the slip agreement your marina asks you to sign all need to be accounted for before a claim tests them.
The same attention goes to what is parked next to the boat. ATVs, golf carts, snowmobiles and personal watercraft are often assumed to be covered by the homeowners policy, and off the property they usually are not. Most personal umbrellas treat them the same way unless each unit is scheduled, so we review the whole fleet rather than leaving it to an assumption.
